Guest Speaker: Annie Chave

Updated: Oct 29

Annie is the Editor and a Director of ‘County Cricket Matters’, a magazine that celebrates County Cricket in the UK. She is a Guerrilla Cricket regular, a Cricket Commentator for the BBC, and Prost International Columnist.

Annie has faced down the misogyny she has met within cricket. She has fought against marginalisation, famously taken on Kevin Pietersen by challenging his opinions, and loudly proclaims her support for County Cricket and champions the importance of red ball cricket.

Child number four of a cricket-obsessed professor, Annie’s path in life was predetermined. Her County allegiance to Somerset was cemented in the 1970s watching Viv Richards and Joel Garner perform, and from that foundation she has become an unstinting voice of support for the County format. At a time when the focus seems to be on the commercialisation of cricket, Annie has acted as a megaphone, amplifying the opinions of those too often marginalised by the ECB.

Annie is a passionate member of The Erratics Cricket Club based in Exeter, Devon, that play friendly fixtures only, and is determined to talk about Somerset CCC and Marcus Trescothick as often as is humanly possible.
